CHPL 505 History and Role of Chaplains

Chaplains provide pastoral care in specialized contexts and have played a role in providing care in military, healthcare, hospice, corporate, congregational, and human services organizations, as well as a variety of other settings. This course examines the history of chaplaincy and discusses the variety of contexts in which chaplains provide pastoral and spiritual care. This is achieved through the exploration of a theology of spiritual care that informs the ministry of chaplaincy. Departmental permission required.
