30. Student Responsibilities
Students are to take initiative for learning in the fieldwork setting. Specific responsibilities are outlined in the course syllabus. Students are to self-identify areas in which they need review, practice, or additional information; take the initiative to seek out appropriate resources; and act to remedy these learning needs.
Students are to contact their primary supervisor at least 2 weeks in advance to discuss logistics and expectations. They are to complete the Professional Development Plan prior to their first day at the rotation and review it with their primary supervisor on either the first or second day.
Students are to be consistently prepared for responsibilities in the fieldwork. Oftentimes, it will require time outside of scheduled fieldwork hours. Examples include but are not limited to, case preparation, literature review, variant interpretation, lab and test identification, case presentation, writing of clinic notes or letters of medical necessity, case log documentation, and self-reflections.
Students are to meet deadlines and complete work in accordance with the fieldwork site. If deadlines and assignments are not met or completed on time, it will be reflected in the student’s evaluation.
