26.8. Dress

Students are expected to comply with the dress requirements of the clinical facility to which they are assigned. There may be some expense associated with dress code compliance (e.g. rental or purchase of scrubs, purchase of a specific type of footwear, etc.). All students must adhere to Program policies if the facility does not dictate dress protocol. Students must be prepared with a clean and pressed short, white lab coat and official school nametag at the start of each clinical experience. If the wearing of a lab coat is discouraged at a clinical site, the student must still wear their program-issued nametag at all times. One nametag is provided to each student at the beginning of the Program. If lost, students are responsible for costs associated with replacing the nametag. To arrange for replacement of a lost nametag, students should contact Program staff. Students must also wear their Mass General Brigham-issued ID badge at all times when on campus or participating in clinical experiences in Mass General Brigham Institutions. Clinical year dress required for students that identify as male is collared shirt, with a tie, and slacks. Students that identify as female are expected to wear dress shirt/blouse/sweater/ or blazer with slacks or skirt that hangs at the level of the knee or lower. All shoes are to be closed toe. No sneakers, jeans, shorts, sweat pants, athletic attire or low cut shirts.
