This survey course briefly covers topics relating to the Air Force and national defense. It focuses on the structure and missions of Air Force organizations, officership and professionalism. It is also a good introduction into the use of communication skills.

AS 111 Leadership Laboratory

This course is taken in conjunction with AS 101. It consists of a weekly laboratory including Air Force customs and courtesies, health and physical fitness, drill and ceremonies, leadership studies, leadership exercises, and Air Force officer career days.

AS 201 The Evaluation of USAF Air & Space Power

This course covers the beginnings of manned flight and development of aerospace power during WWI, WWII, Korea, and the employment of U.S. air power in civic actions, scientific missions, and space exploration. It also includes discussions of U.S. doctrine, Air Force core functions, and the impact of Air Force senior leaders on the development and application of air power theory.

AS 202 The Evaluation of USAF Air & Space Power

This course covers air and space power through the Cold War, the Vietnam Conflict, and through the 21st Century.  It also looks at the employment of air and space power in civic actions, scientific missions, and space exploration. This course also includes discussions of U.S. doctrine, Air Force core functions, and the impact of Air Force senior leaders on the development and application of air and space power theory.

AS 211 Leadership Laboratory

This course is taken in conjunction with AS 201. It consists of a weekly laboratory including Air Force customs and courtesies, physical fitness, drill and ceremonies, leadership studies, leadership exercises, and Air Force officer career days. Provides students opportunities to demonstrate fundamental management skills and prepares cadets for Leadership Evaluation and Development.

This course is a study in the anatomy of leadership, the need for quality and management leadership, the role of discipline in leadership situations, the variables affecting leadership, and the important role effective followership plays in effective leadership. Case studies are used to examine Air Force leadership and management situations as a means of demonstrating and exercising practical application of the concepts.

AS 302 Leadership & Management

AS 401 National Security Affairs & Preparation for Active Duty

This capstone course is designed to prepare students to become professional military officers on active duty as Second Lieutenants in the United States Air Force. Students learn about the role of the professional military leader in a democratic society; societal attitudes toward the armed forces; the requisites for maintaining adequate national defense structure; the impact of technological and international developments on strategic preparedness and the overall policy-making process; and military law.

AS 402 National Security Affairs & Preparation for Active Duty

This capstone course is designed to continue to prepare students to become professional military officers on active duty as Second Lieutenants in the United States Air Force. Students learn about the role of the professional military leader in a democratic society; societal attitudes toward the armed forces; the requisites for maintaining adequate national defense structure; the impact of technological and international developments on strategic preparedness and the overall policy-making process; and military law.

This course is taken in conjunction with AS 401. It provides the opportunity to use leadership skills in planning and conducting cadet activities while preparing students for commissioning and entry into the active-duty Air Force.
