HON 101 Colloquium

This course introduces students to issues surrounding food sustainability, food safety, the locavore movement, and the politics of food.  The course is an intensive investigation that features classroom work, field trips, and experiential opportunities for incoming Honors students.  It provides an introduction to multi-disciplinary approaches to a common issue. Course is graded P/NP. Fee: $400

HON 201 Inventing the Future

This one-credit hour course aids students in clarifying their future and determining how to make it a reality. Students develop personal statements that can be modified for major scholarships or applications for graduate school and gain knowledge about interviews and how to prepare for them. The course culminates in a retreat where students present drafts of their personal statements.

HON 301 Defining the World

This one-credit hour course sees students investigate the parameters of their fields of study and understand how different fields relate to and differ from each other. Through interviewing experts in the fields, students gain an understanding of the ways in which each field is transforming and what they will need to prepare for as they enter their career.
