BIO 203 Human Form and Function

An exploration of how the human body's systems work in coordination with each other and in response to changes in the environment. Three hours of lecture per week.

BIO 205 Foundations of Biology

Introductory principles of biology, including the nature of scientific inquiry, biochemistry, metabolism, protein structure and function, cell structure and function, and genetics. Three hours of lecture per week. Credit for 205 will not be granted for students who have completed BIO 207. This course meets the requirements for nursing majors.

BIO 207 Introduction to Molecular and Cellular Biology

First course in introductory principles of biology sequence. It provides introductory principles of biology including the nature of scientific inquiry, biochemistry and metabolism, macromolecular structure and function, cell structure and function, and molecular genetics. Three hours of lecture per week. Credit for BIO 207 will not be granted to students who have completed BIO 205. Three hours of lecture per week.

BIO 208 Introduction to Evolution and Ecology

Second course in the sequence of introductory principles of biology, providing essential background in the fields of Evolution and Ecology. Topics include Mendelian genetics, the interactions among alleles and genes, evolution, population genetics, processes of speciation, phylogeny and classification, dynamics among individuals in populations and communities, the concepts underlying ecosystem functions, and interactions between organisms and their environment. Three hours of lecture per week.
