Sustainability Technologies A.A.S.

The Sustainability Technologies curriculum is designed to prepare individuals for employment in environmental, construction, alternative energy, manufacturing, or related industries, where key emphasis is placed on energy production and waste reduction along with sustainable technologies.

Course work may include alternative energy, environmental engineering technology, sustainable manufacturing, and green building technology. Additional topics may include sustainability, energy management, waste reduction, renewable energy, site assessment, and environmental responsibility.

Graduates should qualify for positions within the alternative energy, construction, environmental, and/or manufacturing industries. Employment opportunities exist in both the government and private industry sectors where graduates may function as manufacturing technicians, sustainability consultants, environmental technicians, or green building supervisors. Students should consult their advisor for information about course scheduling.

Upon successful completion of this program, the student should be able to:

  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills. (GE I.1)
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the concepts of sustainability and Green technologies.
  • Demonstrate the ability to gather and organize information, identify and analyze sustainability issues, and offer reasonable solutions using the available technologies. (GE II.6; GE III.6)
  • Demonstrate an understanding of mathematical and scientific concepts, skills, and applications by applying classroom knowledge to hands-on activities. (GE IV.4)
  • Develop a historical consciousness and a global perspective of the need for preserving the environment through the implementation of sustainable technology. (GE VI.4)
  • Gain an understanding of the interconnectedness of all living organisms and how human interactions affect the health and welfare of the entire planet.
