PSY 101 Introduction to Psychology

This course surveys questions about the role of Psychology in one's personal life. One of the best aspects of Psychology is that you are the subject matter. The great controversies of psychology are presented including: nature and nurture, free will, mind/body, human/group differences, and the treatment of those with mental health needs. The range of theoretical perspectives including biological, evolutionary, cognitive, social/emotional and psychoanalytic are discussed. Among the topics discussed are development, learning, memory, perception, personality, motivation, social behavior, abnormal behavior, and therapy. Also included is an introduction to the various careers associated with psychology.
