SCI 140 Medical Terminology
This course introduces elements of medical terminology, such as the entomology of words used to describe the human body. Students learn to apply proper terminology for major pathological conditions. This course identifies and explains the terms used for the integumentary, respiratory, nervous, reproductive, endocrine, urinary, digestive, lymphatic, hematic, immune, and musculoskeletal systems. Students define and describe the function of each system of the body and compare and contrast the different body systems. The course also emphasizes accurate interpretation of medical abbreviations, preparing students for professional documentation and communication in healthcare settings.
