CE 589 Introduction to Advanced Environmental Fluid Mechanics

Advanced introduction to the geophysical fluid flows, including properties of seawater; conservation of mass, energy and momentum; dimensional analysis; the the Navier-Stokes, Reynolds and turbulent kinetic energy equations; geostrophy and potential vorticity; long and short waves; and turbulence and boundary layers. Lecture and laboratory. Also offered for undergraduate-level credit as CE 489 and may be taken only once for credit.
