Eng 458 Advanced Topics in Romanticism
Specialized studies in literature of the Romantic movement in Britain and continental Europe. Topics include individual writers and literary groups; poetry and poetic theory; gothic fiction; romanticism and the novel; autobiographical and confessional literature; aesthetic ideologies; women and romanticism; revolutionary and imperialist aspects of romanticism; the impact of romanticism on later literary movements (such as symbolism and modernism). Also offered for graduate-level credit as Eng 558.
