Mission
The mission of the Marriage and Family Christian Counseling Program is to provide students with the academic knowledge, the therapeutic skills, the ability to integrate spirituality and counseling, and the ethical foundations necessary to practice in the field of marriage and family therapy. The program prepares students through curriculum designed to meet the academic requirements set forth by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Marriage and Family Therapists and to sit for the Marriage and Family Therapy licensing exam.
Goals
Goal 1: To provide students with the academic knowledge, the therapeutic skills, the ability to integrate spirituality and counseling, and the ethical foundations necessary for competent practice in the field of marriage and family therapy in a global society.
Goal 2: To prepare students to sit for licensure by meeting the academic requirements set forth by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Marriage and Family Therapists.
Course Requirements – 48 Hours
All students in the Graduate Counseling and Psychology Programs must carry professional liability insurance. This insurance is paid at the beginning of each fall semester and is purchased through the Department of Counseling and Psychology.
