Visiting Faculty Appointments

Faculty members from other institutions of higher education may be granted the status of visiting faculty. Such a status accords the faculty members certain privileges to allow them to continue their scholarly work and may include access to libraries, Institute laboratories and other space, e-mail, and other resources. Visiting faculty are generally guests of the Institute faculty. Requests for an appointment as a visiting faculty should be made in writing to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Ordinarily, visiting faculty are not paid, nor do they receive benefits. Visiting professors who are here for a limited period of time and receive no salary from the Institute are not governed by the personnel policies of the faculty. International scholars must work with the Office of Student and Alumni Services to obtain a J-1 visa.
