4.5.2 Summative Assessments

Prior to beginning the externship year, all students are required to successfully complete an in-person written and practical skills exam. The written and practical skills components are held on different days during the summer semester. A committee comprised of program faculty will collectively grade each student’s written and in-person demonstration of clinical skills.

A score of 80% or higher is required to proceed to the externship year. Students who fail one or both parts of the summative assessment may retake the exam within a period of time specified by the AuD faculty. A one-semester period of remedial instruction may be required. A second failure will result in dismissal from the program.

The logistics of the summative exam is subject to change. All changes affecting student participation or preparation will be communicated to students in a timely manner.
