DA-640 Ethics, Data Security & Regulation

Prerequisites: None. Students will acquire an understanding of the JEDI, ethical and regulatory components of the health care data analytics ecosystem. JEDI, the Institute's justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion will inform data analysis to create data models that are sensitive to the differences in health beliefs and practices among the many different cultures represented in today's patient populations and communities. Students will acquire knowledge on the use of health data informed by privacy laws to protect personal health information. Students will be prepared to develop models free from unconscious bias by understanding the ethical concerns around the use and disclosure of health data. Regulatory topics include developing system specifications and configurations consistent with current statutes and standards while ensuring cybersecurity risks are mitigated and aligned with European Union Privacy Laws and other global laws for international systems and managing organizational & technical governance.
