DMSU 213 Pathophysiology for Imaging Professionals
This course will examine the phenomena that produce alterations in the human physiologic function and the resulting human response. Upon completion of the course, students will understand pathophysiological changes, including how pathological processes are manifested, progress in the body, and primary and secondary effects. Students must have an understanding of normal functions of the body systems in order to understand the abnormal functions and manifestations of the disease process.

Course Objectives
- 1. Discuss the basic concepts of pathophysiology at the cellular level related to injury, the self-defense
mechanism, mutation, and cellular proliferation. - 2. Distinguish between the basic pathological factors that influence the disease process.
- 3. Categorize the various pathological processes related to the targeted body systems.
- 4. Explain the impact of the abnormal functions on the organ(s) as it relates to the disease process.
- 5. Relate the abnormal functions of body systems and clinical manifestations with the disease process.
