HMDV 205 Silas Craft Collegians Seminar IV

This course is a special, one-credit seminar specifically designed for students enrolled in the Silas Craft Collegians Program. The purpose of this course is to continue building upon ideas introduced in previous Silas Craft HMDV seminar courses through a focus on: self-awareness and self-management, developing emotional intelligence, employing interdependence, and cultivating a disposition toward lifelong learning.

Course Objectives

  1. Evaluate elements of individual college success plans using the SMART framework and make adjustments as appropriate.
  2. Adopt and incorporate life change strategies for personal growth and success, drawing upon literature and activities presented in class.
  3. Recognize the difference between empathy and sympathy and understand this difference’s relevance for the development of emotional intelligence.
  4. Demonstrate decision-making and conflict management skills through simulations and case studies.
  5. Understand and employ leadership development techniques when assuming leadership roles both in class and on campus.
