NS 500U Foundations of Nursing Practice

Prerequisites: Baccalaureate degree and completion of all program pre-requisites. This course focuses on creating a solid foundation for nursing care of diverse individuals and communities. Students are introduced to the nursing process, evidence-based practice, communication, influences of social determinants of health on wellbeing, levels of prevention, critical thinking, and patient- and family centered care.  Emphasis is placed on the introduction of skills necessary to maintain wellness and promote the health of diverse populations.  Students will develop psychomotor skills to meet basic human needs and facilitate a safe environment.
