ART 320 African Art

This course is an introduction to the art of the peoples of West and Central Africa through an anthropological examination of the religions, myths, histories, and artifacts created by these peoples. It is focused on the traditional visual arts, with emphasis on sculptural arts. Students explore the art of West and Central Africa, highlighting the range and variety of artifacts created by major groups in specific regions. Pre-requisite(s): None.
