Paramedic to RN Bridge

The Paramedic to RN Bridge is an extension of the Associate Degree Nursing A.A.S. The program allows currently certified paramedics to earn an associate degree in Nursing. 

Students who are certified Paramedics through the NC Office of Emergency Medical Services or National Registry and meet the WPCC Associate Degree Nursing A.A.S. admission requirements may enroll in NUR 215 Paramedic/RN Bridge Concepts. Students completing NUR 215 will receive non-course credit for NUR 111, NUR 112, and NUR 113.  Successful completion of all prerequisite ADN general education courses and NUR 215 will allow students to enter the Associate Degree Nursing cohort as a sophomore. 

Students must meet all other requirements of the Associate Degree Nursing A.A.S.

Admission Requirements

WPCC Admission Requirements

  1. Complete the Western Piedmont Community College Application found at https://www.wpcc.edu/new-students/
  2. High School Transcripts or Equivalent
  3. College transcripts from all colleges attended.
  4. Required GPA of 2.5 or above on all college coursework

Paramedic to ADN Program Requirements

  1. Paramedic to ADN Application.
  2. Valid unrestricted North Carolina Paramedic or National Registry Paramedic Certification for a minimum of 2 years prior to admission.
  3. Successful Placement test scores or ability to take ENG 111 and MAT 143 or higher without a co-requisite.
  4. ATI TEAS exam score of proficient (≥ 63) within the last 3 years.
  5. AHA BLS Provider CPR certification OR American Red Cross Basic Life Support
  6. General education pre-requisite courses. ENG 111, BIO 168, BIO 169, PSY 150, PSY 241 and ACA 115 or ACA 122 (To be completed before entering the second-year of the ADN Nursing program)
  7. Successful completion of NUR 215 Paramedic to RN Bridge concepts with a grade of C or higher.
  8. Access to High-Speed Internet and a laptop computer for coursework.

Paramedic to ADN Applicants are subject to all WPCC Nursing program rules and requirements with the exception of certification as Nurse Aid 1 or higher by NC DHSR as NREMT-P or NC Paramedic supersedes this requirement.
