CCD 606 Scholarly Habits of Mind I
This is the first of two courses designed to strengthen students' growth as scholars and assist in goal-setting for doctoral work. This seminar develops scholarly habits of mind and facilitates interactions with scholarly communities. Students explore research purposes, design components, and what constitutes data. Using technological tools, students narrow research topics, identify peer-reviewed articles in areas of interest, learn note-taking techniques, and critically evaluate research. They become familiar with APA 7th Edition formatting and begin developing their positionality and scholarly voice. The course supports foundational skill development for the doctoral journey.
