NP 739 Advanced Pharmacology
Prerequisites: RN Status, NS-622 Pharmacology or NS-503AG Pharmacology I and NS-503BG Pharmacology II. Pass/Fail and audit option not available. This course prepares the advanced practice nursing (APRN) student to apply pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic principles of drugs to the treatment of disease in patients across the lifespan. Students integrate concepts from microbiology and advanced pathophysiology to pharmacotherapeutics. Legal and ethical responsibilities of the APRN prescriber are covered. Application of content includes case studies to enhance therapeutic reasoning and ready the APRN student to safely prescribe medications in both primary care and acute care clinical settings.
