PSY 462 Interviewing Principles & Practices

The Psychological Interviewing Principles and Practices course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to conduct effective mental health interviews. This course provides students with an in-depth understanding of the principles, ethics, and best practices of mental health interviewing and practices. Students will learn about the different types of mental health interviews, including diagnostic interviews, intake interviews, and crisis interviews. They will also explore the different techniques used in mental health interviews, such as rapport building, active listening, empathy, goal setting, and validation. Students will gain the skills and knowledge necessary to conduct effective mental health interviews in a variety of settings. They will be able to design interview protocols, ask effective questions, and respond appropriately to a wide range of mental health interview situations.
