Geog 484 Cartographic Applications of GIS

Provides a general introduction to GIS by focusing on the mapmaking capabilities of GIS software. Topics include basic cartographic principles of visual communication and representation, how to turn geographic datasets into effective maps both for print and the web, and how to critique maps. Also offered for graduate-level credit as Geog 584 and may be taken only once for credit.
