Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences-Health Science
The B.S.H.S. in Health Science is for students that desire to pursue graduate degrees in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant, Chiropractic Medicine, or Medicine. Coursework will cover an in-depth core of anatomy, exercise physiology, rehabilitation practices, biomechanics and human movement science courses. Each student will choose a concentration in either Pre-Chiropractic, Pre-Physical Therapy, Pre-Physician's Assistant or Pre-Occupational Therapy in order to complete the various per-requisites for graduate schools in Texas. Students may declare as a Health Science major at any time if they have completed less than 60 hours of course work. Upon the completion of 45 credit hours, students must have a GPA of at least 3.0 to continue in the program. Following the completion of 60 hours, a Health Science major is required to maintain a minimum cumulative 3.2 GPA. A student who has a GPA lower than the minimum requirements will be required to change their major.

Grades of "C" or better are required in all courses (including support courses) counting toward the Health Science major.
Health Science Foundation - 24 hours
Health Science Major - 16 hours
12 hours (6 upper level) at UMHB
Health Science Majors are required to choose one of the following concentrations: Pre-Chiropractic, Pre-Medicine, Pre-Occupational Therapy, Pre-Physician Assistant, or Pre-Physical Therapy.
Pre-Chiropractic Concentration
Grades of "C" or better are required in all courses in the Pre-Chiropractic concentration (including required support courses and required courses from other departments.) Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2.
Pre-Med Concentration
Grades of "C" or better are required in all courses in the Pre-Med concentration (including required support courses and required courses from other departments.) Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2.
Pre-OT Concentration
Grades of "C" or better are required in all courses in the Pre-Occupational Therapy concentration (including required support courses and required courses from other departments.) Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2.
Pre-PA Concentration
Grades of "C" or better are required in all courses in the Pre-Physician Assistant concentration (including required support courses and required courses from other departments.) Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2.
Pre-PT Concentration
Grades of "C" or better are required in all courses in the Pre-Physical Therapy concentration (including required support courses and required courses from other departments.) Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2.
