LTC 550 Long-Term Care Administration Overview and Introduction to Life Safety

This is the introductory course for the four-course concentration in Long-Term Care Administration. This course will provide an overview of the different levels of Long- Term Care, including Independent Living, Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing, along with the fundamental principles of the long-term care administrator’s role and responsibilities in these settings. Topics include ethical and legal issues that impact long term care administrators. Students will also be exposed to the regulatory requirements that govern long term care facilities, resident care, and life safety codes. Labor laws, recruitment processes, and employee management procedures specific to long term care facilities will also be addressed in this course. Pre-requisite(s): None.
