This class provides students with an advanced look at the managerial, structural, and operational functions of visual and performing arts organizations, translating traditional business practices into the language of the arts. Topics include mission vs. profit, grant writing, fundraising techniques for arts organizations, financial accounting and budget development, and marketing oneself to establish an arts management career.

This class examines the fundamental structures and operating systems of arts organizations. Topics include the responsibilities of arts organizations to artists and the function and internal structure of various types of arts organizations; audience development and community involvement; contracts, production, and working with vendors; and current issues in arts management and their relevance.

An advanced level sculpture course where students will examine issues relevant to carving a three-dimensional form in wood. Students will create works that are based on concepts, and personal insights while obtaining technical skills with tools and materials. This class is structured around presentations, demonstrations, discussions, group critiques and studio time. May be repeated for a maximum of 4 credits. May not be audited. Fee: $55
