Comprehensive exam take by students in Bachelor of Music degree programs covering Music Theory, Aural Skills, and Music History. Students must demonstrate competency in all areas. Prerequisites: MUSI 2332 Theory IV, MUSI 2132 Aural Skills IV, and MUSI 3353 Music History II.

An overview of techniques and best practices for leading worship band rehearsals.

Beginning skill development with the baton; conducting beat and metrical patterns; gestures of articulation and expression. Prerequisite: MUSI 2331 or permission of the instructor.

An introduction to the field of music education including history and philosophy of music education, an overview of the school music program, major elementary methodologies, and best practices in education.

An overview of church music concepts, practices, and administration.

Continuation of MUSI 1332. Includes secondary dominant and leading tone chords, modulation to closely related keys, borrowed chords, Neapolitan chords, and augmented 6^th chords, Should be taken concurrently with MUSI 2131. Prerequisite: MUSI 1332.

Continuation of MUSI 2331. Includes study of chromatic tonal harmony, late Romantic harmony, chromatic modulation, enharmonic reinterpretation, modes, exotic and synthetic scales, 20th century harmonic vocabulary and techniques, set theory, 12-tonal theory, and aleatoric practices. Should be taken concurrently with MUSI 2132. Prerequisite: MUSI 2331.

Applications of chord progressions, song forms, and harmonic techniques used in commercial music. Topics include chord notation and chord voicings, and the Nashville numbering system.

A survey of the history, music literature, and compositional techniques and styles from Gregorian chant through 1750.

A survey of the literature, compositional techniques, musical traditions and cultural contexts of the music not common to traditional western musical study.

A survey of the history of rock music from its origins to present day.
