COM 105 Introduction to Communication: Storytelling

In this course, students explore key components of applied communications with focus on storytelling across genres and writing for publication. Students build their foundational skills in writing and synthesizing assigned materials into discussions. This course promotes engaging conversations as well as stimulating writing and interviewing tasks, including a final project. Students exercise their critical thinking skills and creativity as they explore communications as storytellers—written and verbal. This is a gateway course into the B.A. in Communication and Media and the Communication minor. Pre- requisite(s): ENG 101 and ENG 201 with a grade of a C or better or equivalent as determined by advisor. Co-requisite(s): None. 5 quarter hours
