PA-826 General Surgery Clerkship

Prerequisites: Successful completion of all first-year courses and any previous clerkships. The general surgery clerkship is a required five-week clinical experience in the perioperative evaluation and management of the surgical patient. Students will work with the surgical team to apply and expand their knowledge and skills diagnosing, treating, and managing patients presenting in the pre- and post-operative setting. Students will also gain intra-operative experience in the operating room setting. Students will learn under the supervision of a program-determined preceptor and his or her designee(s).
