SEC524 Communicative Language Teaching in the Foreign Language Classroom

This modern foreign language methods course is designed for M.A.T. students who intend to teach foreign language(s) to secondary and/or middle school students. Participants will learn how to use implications of current second language (L2) acquisition theory to foster a learner-centered classroom in which the L2 is the primary language of communicative competence- the ability to express, interpret and negotiate meaning - and will learn how to use performance-based assessment of communicative and written competencies to drive curriculum and instruction. 3 semester hours
